Preambulatory Clauses
Affirming the enforcement of laws on people who purchase children and not just the people trafficking them,
Deeply concerned that the 4.5 million sexually enslaved children in the world lose hope in ever being free again (Love146 2014),
Encouraging children and adults alike to become educated in forms of exploitation,
Stressing that willing to be abused because of financial need is still exploitation,
Aware that sexual exploitation can occur without trafficking,
Taking into account that two children are trafficked every minute (Love146 2012),
Bearing in mind that government officials have also been known to purchase children for sexually exploitative reasons.
Operative Clauses
Applauds the Korean government who led a 37% decrease in the number of brothels following the increase of penalties for trafficking and prostitution (Farley 2006);
Demands that the Nigerian government take immediate action in saving the 170+ schoolgirls who were abducted by Boko Haram;
Urges local sports teams and organization to bring awareness and action against trafficking when their city is hosting a championship, such as the Super Bowl and even the Olympics.
