Claim #2
Cultural devaluation of women has most noticeably been the cause of sexual exploitation regarding girls in Southeast Asia. Due to the dowry system in which parents have to pay for their daughter to marry, many Indian parents do not want to give birth to female babies. This results in gendercide, and according to the documentary it's a girl, "...gendercide has caused sex trafficking, prostitution market, and child-bride kidnapping." The gendercide has created a displacement in the ratio between men and women, with their being 37 million more males than females in China (it's a girl). Since it is difficult for men to find wives due to the gender disparity, "Girls are stolen or purchased from families so that they can be secured as future brides for their sons," (it's a girl). Again, these children have their futures decided for them at the moment of their birth, and unfortunately their futures are devastating ones.
